The Story

Yoga Mouse is full of excitement, anticipating the Winter Solstice festivities. Then disaster strikes as the woodland is hit by a big storm that destroys many of the animals homes and food supplies.

Using the power of Yoga, Yoga Mouse is able to calm himself down. In doing so he is able to tune into nature and the world around him to find inspiration.

Join the forest community as they join together to try and pull of an elaborate plan lead by Yoga Mouse. Will they;

- listen to one of the smallest animals in the woods?

- find a safe space to shelter for the night?

- unite, and set aside their differences?

At the core this story is about BELEIVING IN YOURSELF, SLOWING DOWN so that you can BREATHE and find a way forward, COMMUNITY, UNITY and shining your INNER LIGHT!

The story has a rhyming flow making it fun but also a great resource to link into literacy topics.

The Yoga

The Yoga asanas all link into the story to make it fun for the children. However there is also depth to the asanas that have been included. Consideration for the chakra points most linked to winter was important.Balance in life is so important and being able to come back to balance after ups and downs and even BIG festivities is a wonderful aspect to explore. Winter calls us to slow and bring love into our lives as well as to reflect that love out to those around us. This time of year can seem challenging for many reasons. With this in mind I have added in a new Asana that can initially seem very challenging, but when we move into it bit by bit and we slow down, it is actually not that tricky.

Here is a list of the Asanas;

SUKHASANA (easy pose)

SIMHASANA PRANAYAMA (lions breath)

NATARAJASANA (dancer pose)

VIRABHADRASANA 2 (Warrior 2)

ADHO MUKHA SVANASANA (downward dog)

Toe Squat (squirrel pose)

ARDHA UTANASANA (half-way lift)

TEJAS MUDRA

BALASANA (child’s pose variation)

ASHTANGASANA (8 limbed pose)

VRIKSHASANA (tree pose) - Forest pose all together

Each card has written guidance about how to enter, hold and exit each pose safely for children. If you are unsure on any of the Asanas please do get in touch for further guidance. Many will be featured on my Instagram page.
